As per the decision of the Central Action Committee (CAC), members of the Jharsuguda District Bar Association staged a demonstration in front of the Jharsuguda and Brajarajnagar Municipality offices on Tuesday demanding a permanent High Court Bench in western Odisha.
Earlier, all the political parties in the district had decided to boycott the urban local body elections protesting the inordinate delay of the State Government in ensuring a High Court Bench in western Odisha.
According to the District Election Officer, on the first day nobody filed nomination at the Jharsuguda and Brajarajnagar Municipalities. District Bar Association president Dinesh Jain said, “We will continue our agitation until a quick response from the Government is made.”
