Two flights of Indigo had to be diverted from the Biju Patnaik International Airport here on Wednesday afternoon due to bad weather caused by nor’wester.
The flights from Bengaluru to Bhubaneswar could not land at the airport and was diverted to Kolkata as it was denied permission by the Air Traffic Controller as the city also experienced a spell of dust storm accompanied by rains.
The Air Traffic Control (ATC) did not give ground clearance for the aircraft to land at the scheduled time as there was nor’wester at that time in Bhubaneswar sky.
This forced the aircraft to hover round in the sky for about 30 minutes before the ATC diverted it to Kolkata.
All the passengers were reported to be safe.
