This new year’s first Meet the Artist illustrated lecture was held by Elise Ruth Robstad, Norwegian actress and architect, talking about her journey within the arts, focusing on theatre, performance art and experiencing public space through theatre and architecture.
Being from a coastal Norway, Robstad started with a geographical introduction to her physical journey from the North European country, from southern seaside to Oslo, to Paris in France for theatre and subsequently to Mexico for architecture, back to Paris and now in India for the last two years.
She studied theatre at the prestigious Ecole Nationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, and shared its fascinating pedagogy and creativity, through photos, short videos and theatre demonstrations.
She shared the essence of performance art, from a western perspective, making apparent what can seem quite abstract to many. She shared some of her key performances, including Blanche-Neige, the Snow-White project directed by Catherine Bay and the on-site performance of the Terrain Vague company.
She shared her passion for use of art to discover territories in a different way, and to create common space and relation with residents.
