With complaints of nonprofessionals practising architecture gathering at the Council of Architecture (CoA), the State Governments have been advised to take appropriate steps to remain away from such entities and take action against them.
CoA Registrar Secretary RK Oberai has written to the Government in this regard.
The council continues to receive complaints about non-architects practising architectural works with fake certificates.
The Council of Architecture, which is an autonomous body of the Union Government under the Architect Act, 1972, is the only authorised body to issue Certificate of Registration to each and every registered architect, an official said.
The CoA has advised the State Government to direct all ULBs to verify validity of registrations of the architects before accepting any drawings, plans submitted by them for approval of the ULBs concerned.
Oberai informed that the validity of certificates can be verified from the website www.coa.gov.in on the tab “Verify Your Architect” or through mail on the email ID-renewal-coa@gov.in.
