lawyer Gyanendra Kumar Tripathy, a resident of the Bhimpur area here, has raised question against the irregularities and illegalities in implementing the RTI Act here at the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
In a letter to BMC Commissioner, Tripathy said he had submitted an RTI application August 1 as per the prescribed format with requisite fees in shape of IPO bearing no- 28F - 042052 of `10 but the officer concerned refused to take `10 in cash and forced me to bring Indian Postal Order for the fees amount from the nearby post office.
“Accordingly, I brought IPO from the nearby post office and while submitted the RTI application the officer concerned refused to receive the application on proper procedure and advised me to give this application without any return acknowledgment,” the letter of Tripathy stated.
“After arguments, the officer concerned gave me the counterfoil without his signature on it,” Tripathy alleged.
He urged the Commissioner to take necessary steps towards the procedures of receiving RTI applications as per the guidelines of RTI ACT-2005.
