The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the State Crime Branch arrested the owner of a real estate company Brys Group from his Noida residence on Monday for selling a disputed land on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar to a Delhi-based businessman.

A three-member EOW team with support of the Noida police raided the Sector 44 house of accused Rahul Gaur on Monday morning. However, the police found the house locked.

Smelling that the house was locked from inside, the sleuths called Rahul to surrender or else they would break open the door. After nearly eight hours, Rahul appeared before them.

Rahul was later produced before a Noida court on Tuesday and was scheduled to be brought to Bhubaneswar on a transit remand, sources said.

Earlier on October 30, the EOW had registered a cheating case against Gaur based on a complaint lodged by Saranpal Singh Sethy, the duped Delhi-based real estate developer. In his complaint filed at the Balianta police station, Shethy alleged that Gaur had cheated him of `18 crore by selling him a 3.5-acre disputed land near Pahala. The complaint was later handed over to the EOW, sources added.

The Crime Branch would interrogate Gaur to ascertain the involvement of others in the case, sources added.
