Irresponsible act of a headmaster and teachers of  a Government school in  Sundargarh district  led to death of a PET of the school on Monday.

The critically ill was  sent  with  four  minor   students  in a vehicle  to  Sundargarh hospital  but he  was  declared  brought  dead by the doctor.

Following  the tragic incident, the  family members  of  the deceased teacher have  alleged  that due to the apathy of the school  authorities, the teacher lost  his  life.A team of the District  Welfare Office went to the  school in Gurundia  block on  Wednesday to inquire about  the  matter  and the head master was issued a show cause  notice on Wednesday. The Sundargarh  police, after registering a UD case, are now investigating the case.

Sources  said the deceased was identified as Ashok  Seth(44), PET  in the Jamdarah  High  School  in  Gurundia  block in  Bonei  sub division.  He  was  residing  alone  in  school  premises  but  his wife, one 15- year-  old  daughter  and  seven-  year  old  son reside  in a  rented  house  in  Shankara  in  Sundargarh.

Seth had  talked  to  his  wife over his  mobile  on  Saturday last and  had  told her  that  he  was  feeling  unwell  due  to  high blood  pressure.  On  Monday,  even if Seth  was  unwell  and  was willing  to  go  to  his  home, headmaster  Taranisen  Malik  instead of  taking  him   to  a local  hospital told  four students  of  the school who reside in school  hostel identified  as  Sambit

Tirkey(15), Mansukh  lugun(14), Ranjit  Kerketta(14) and  Dinesh Mahali(14)  to  accompany  Seth to  Sundargarh in a  Tata  Magic vehicle . According to sources, on  the  way to  Sundargarh, Seth went unconscious. The  four  minor  students  reached  Sundargarh  at around 2 pm.  The  four students,  who  had  no  idea about address and  telephone  number  of  the family  members of Seth, could  not  contact  them. They  had  to search the house of Seth for  about  one  hour  and  finally  they  could  meet  his family members.  Soon the family members  of  Seth  rushed him to  a Sundargarh  hospital  but by that time, he had died.

After getting  information, Town police  reached  at the  spot and seized  the  body. On  Tuesday, the  police  conducted  post  mortem and  registered  a  UD  case. The  family members  alleged  that the school authorities did not  show the humanity.

“This  is an inhuman and irresponsible act  of the headmaster  of the school. We   have issued  show  cause  notice  to  him and after  receiving  his  reply,  we will  contemplate  to  take  action against  him,” said ADWO, Sundargarh RC Sethi.
