Non-availability of textbooks for the Hindi medium schools in Baleswar has irked the students and parents.
Expressing their strong discontentment, parents and members of the management committee of the RK Hindi Vidyalaya gheraoed the office of the District Project Coordinator-cum-District Education Officer and demanded immediate solution to the issue. The agitators were pacified after the DPC assured them positive steps at the earliest.A school management committee member, Kailash Sethi, said, “This is a careless attitude of the department. The students of Hindi medium school continue to suffer every year. Although the current year session started since long and summer vacation is approaching, there is no availability of textbooks.”
nother committee member said, “Most of our students with a strength of 240 from Classes I to VIII are of Hindi medium. There are about 200 students pursuing the course in Hindi medium. Earlier, the books were purchased from the open market and now for four years they are supplied free of cost under the SSA. Since these books are translated from Odia by an organisation every year, there is a time lapse. Teachers are not able to take classes due to the want of books.”
SSA DPC Prakash Joshi said, “Since the books are translated, it takes some time and the problem is experienced across the State. The headmaster of the (Baleswar) school has not placed the indents of the various books for various classes. However, efforts will be made to bring the books to the district as early as possible.”
