A boys educational complex for children of Paudi Bhuyan tribes opened by the Paudi Bhuyan Development Authority (PBDA) is not in proper condition in lahunipada block in the district here. There is no teacher to teach them even if four months after opening of the school.
Sources said ST boys educational complex was opened at Khuntgaon under lahunipada block by the PBDA in March last for the Paudi Bhuyan children. The complex has also a hostel with 200 seats. The children of Paudi Bhuyan tribes can study from class V to Class-VIII in this complex. According to sources, about Rs 75 lakh had been spent for construction of the boys educational complex. There are about 155 students who have taken admission in the school and they have also been residing in the hostel since opening of the boys educational complex. The students have been regularly going to attend classes but there is no teacher.
According to sources, about Rs 700 comes as aid for each student and despite having all the infrastructure, students have been deprived of classroom studies. During the first week of March, PBDA had advertised for recruitment of teachers but have not yet been able to recruit teachers.
According to sources, there is also a girls educational complex of PBDA at Khuntgaon, which had been started eight years ago and about 400 girls are studying there.
“It is really unfortunate that teachers have not yet been appointed but we are in the process to recruit teachers. I will see that teachers required for this educational complex are appointed at the earliest.” said Special Officer, PBDA, Khungaon Uttam Kumar Mohanty.
