While 95 per cent primary schools running under the School and Mass Education Department have no teacher for each class, over 85 per cent schools have no room for each class.

School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra informed this in the State Assembly in response to a question of BJP MlA Dilip Ray on Thursday.

While there are a total of 33,398 primary schools, 1,448 have teachers for each class and 4,032 schools have a classroom for each class.

Similarly, out of 16,697 high schools, only 5,374 schools have a teacher for each class and 5,886 schools have a classroom for each class.

Out of 51,094 primary and high schools, 50,752 schools have own building and only 12,028 schools have own playgrounds. This means over 39,000 schools have no playgrounds.

Only 2,965 schools are connected with pipe water supply and 11,007 schools have electricity connectivity. A total of 33,216 schools have either boundary wall or fencing systems, the Minister said.
