Quality is compromised in the construction of the Gop-Balighai PWD road, a short cut route to the district headquarters town of Puri from Nimapara.
Most people of the Nimapara constituency are dependent on the road to commute to Puri. After a long time, the Government sanctioned funds for construction of the road, but the work moves very slow.
The works from Balighai to Gop are now underway. The dust and chips mix which is used for making the base is not in right proportion. The bitumen work also is the worst. The contractor is allegedly using scraped bitumen collected by digging the old road .The locals have expressed strong resentment over the work.
When we contacted, PWD engineer Purnachandra Beura of Puri division -II could not provide any satisfactory answer over the irregularities in the road work.
Meanwhile, the locals have demanded a probe into the matter.
