Director General of Police (DGP) Prakash Mishra on Monday reiterated that there is no specific information regarding threat from terrorists to the ensuing Rath Yatra at Puri.
“We reiterate our assurance that there is no specific information regarding threat to the Rath Yatra. Adequate security arrangements have been made for smooth conduct of the Snan Purnima rituals,” said Mishra here while attending the passing-out parade of 436 police recruits as the chief guest at the Traffic Training Institute.
“We have requested the Centre for more rapid action force of CRPF for this year’s Rath Yatra as they would be deployed during the Nabakalebar festival next year,” said the DGP.
On the chit fund scam, the DGP promised all possible help to the CBI, which is now probing it. “We have already provided all records related to the chit fund scam sought by the CBI. Whenever the Central agency will seek our support, we will provide the same,” he said.
On the issue of a proposal of engagement of retired SI of Police personnel that he had made earlier, the DGP clarified that such a proposal was made in the wake of the general elections.
“In the wake of the general elections, we had planned to engage retired police personnel at the SI level to maintain law and order. Since the elections are over, we will not execute the proposal,” said the DGP.
