In his reaction to CAG remarks regarding the Health Department’s irregularities, Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi has said the department has not committed any severe mistake which the audit report has revealed.
Nayak said the programmes and projects of the National Health Mission (NHM) are functioning smoothly in the right direction, but the department would take the CAG’s recommendations seriously for the welfare of people.
He also said the maternal mortality rate (MMR) and infant mortality rate (IMR) have decreased in the State. The situation is changing fast due to timely action taken by the Government in the field of infrastructural development and implementation of several programmes in time, he said.
On the CAG report on date-expired medicines to patients, the Minister said the department would look into the matter deeply to find out the truth. The problem would be solved very soon after the Medical Corporation starts functioning in the State, he added.
