A group of BJD leaders has been holding a series of meetings here to discuss the emerging political scenario and chalk out strategies for the forthcoming general elections.

At a meeting on Saturday, it was strongly and unanimously resolved to appeal to the party high command not to re-nominate local sitting MlA Sarada Prasad Nayak nor select anyone from outside the party ambit as the candidate for the 2014 elections as it would not only substantially hurt the sentiments of local party cadres but also that of the Rourkelites as a whole. It was decided to send a delegation for a dialogue with the party leadership in Bhubaneswar. It was noted that there is strong public resentment against Nayak for his alleged involvement in the May 29, 2012 conspiracy against the party leadership and his arrogant attitude, said a core committee member of the group after the meeting.

He further said the party would face a split here if Nayak gets party ticket again. Party members would also not tolerate any outsider’s last minute entry to grab ticket, he asserted. local party leaders stick to their point “No Sarada, no outsider”, to which the State leadership should pay attention, he added. Meanwhile, a BJD block president, Krushna Chandra Pattanaik, who is a bête noire of Nayak, lodged an FIR at the Sector-3 police station on Saturday alleging that a group of antisocial youths identifying themselves as the MlA’s supporters gave threat to his life if he goes against Nayak while he was photocopying some documents and snatched away the documents.
