Threatens self-immolation

A State Government employee has finally written to the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) about his plight of being deprived of salary for last four months after all his pleas with higher authorities failed to yield any result. He has also threatened to immolate self if justice is not done to him by August 10.

Dilip Kumar Panigrahi had joined as Panchayat Executive Officer in Gurundia block of Sundargarh district in 2006. In 2010, he was transferred as Executive Officer to Itam Panchayat under Bargaon block.

After joining at Bargaon block, even if he repeatedly requested Gurundia BDO office to send his service book to Bargaon BDO office so that his salary payment can be continued, it was not conceded, leading to stoppage of his salary since March last.

He could not get his arrear amount as well. Since he is not getting salary, he has been facing a lot of difficulties to run his family, he informed to the SHRC.

Recently Panigrahi wrote to BDO, Gurundia about his difficulty and requested him to send his service book but to no avail. At long last, he wrote to the SHRC informing about his plight and seeking justice.

“While he was working here, I was not here. After my joining here, when I came to know about his grievance. I have sent his papers pertaining to his salary to Bargaon block,” said Gurundia BDO S Naik, when asked. However, Bargaon BDO JK Sahu said he had not received Panigrahi’s service book.
