Even as scores of examinees in the flood-affected Malkangiri district failed to reach their examination centres on time to appear at the High School Certificate Supplementary Examinations on Monday, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) has no plans to conduct any retest for the absentees. The examination began across the State on Monday in as many as 61 centres, including in two of Malkangiri district. While the day’s examination went off smoothly elsewhere in the State, many students found it extremely difficult to reach their centres at the Malkangiri district headquarters.
Sources said over 70 students of the district could not reach the centres as many roads have either washed away or are under floodwaters. “We don’t have any plans to conduct reexamination for the students who were marked absent on the day,” said BSE President DP Nanda. He said the BSE has not received any request for reexamination from the District Education Officer. Over 18,000 students have enrolled for the examinations in the State which will continue till June 27.
