Higher Education Minister Pradeep Panigrahi on Thursdaytold the Assembly that the Government has not made any regular lecturer appointment in any of Government Degree Colleges since the year 1999.
However, 190 lecturers had been posted on ad hoc basis in the year 2014-15, the Minister informed in response to question of BJD MlA Prafulla Samal.
To a related question by BJP MlA Dilip Ray, the Minister informed that posts of Principal in as many as 80 of 94 Government and Degree and Plus Two colleges are now lying vacant. Similarly, 689 of a total of 2,841 sanctioned teaching posts and 194 of 782 nonteaching posts are lying vacant in these colleges. Required steps are being taken to fill up these posts, the Minister said.
