The alleged gangrape incident of a minor Dalit schoolgirl in Kunduli of Koraput district which has seen many twists, on Tuesday took another dramatic turn as the police Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) ADG said the victim’s medical reports claim that there is no evidence of rape.
HRPC ADG Mahendra Pratap, who had submitted the medical reports to the Odisha State Human Rights Commission (OSHRC) on Monday, said on Tuesday that the medical experts have found no proof of rape after examining the girl.
“I have discussed with all the doctors treating the girl at Kunduli, Jeypore and MKCG College Hospital in Brahmapur during the course of investigation.
I have submitted the reports attached with the doctors’ version to the OSHRC yesterday. As per the doctors’ opinion, there is no such evidence of rape,” Pratap said.
But investigations are still on, he added.
DGP RP Sharma also spoke on the same lines saying to reporters, “Medical and forensic experts were roped in to find out the truth. During the course of investigation, the movement of security forces, who were alleged to be involved in the case, could not be established.
The Koraput SP has a managed to get vital clues regarding the case. I hope the matter will be sorted out soon,” said Sharma.
However, the family of the girl stood by her statement and said, “Even though we are poor people, even if we are hanged, we will still say that she was gangraped.”
Notably, the 14-old-girl has alleged that she was raped by a group of four Central paramilitary personnel on October 10.
