Public resentment is brewing over the nonavailibility of platform tickets in the Brahmapur railway station. Many people have complained that all the times they visit the railway station the counter remains closed. It often creates inconveniences for the passengers, especially senior citizens with heavy luggage as there is no help from anybody to lift bags. Even coolies are not available for fear of Covid infection.
As platform tickets are not sold, the non travellers who accompany the travellers are not able to see them off near the train or help them to lift the luggage. Before the Covid pandemic about 100 passenger trains were plying though Brahampur railway station and about 10,000 passengers were using the station for regular journey daily. However, the same rush is not found these days in the station as the number of trains and passengers has declined. The people from the districts of Gajapati, Rayagada, Phulbani,Boudh and Ganjam depend on the station.
