The Nikhila Utkal Gruharakhi Mahasangha has hailed the Odisha High Court’s order not to hold physical test for reappointment of Home Guards.
As per the Odisha Home Guards Act and the Odisha Home Guards Rules, a single-judge Bench of Justice BR Sarangi of the High Court gave its order for reappointment of Home Guards. The Home Guards would only need to fill up a form for reappointment. They would be not asked to undergo any physical or medical test.
While a total of 17,500 Home Guards are working in the State, the Home Guard Commandant General had published an advertisement for physical test and other criteria for reappointment. The High Court has given its interim stay order in response to cases filed by Home Guards in this regard, said Mahasangha executive president Upendra Mohapatra and advisor Jyotiranjan Mohapatra.
