The meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the State Assembly scheduled for Monday was postponed after the ruling BJD members, who are preparing to leave for Delhi for June 12 ‘Swabhiman Samabesh’, sought time requesting the PAC chairman to defer the date for another day.
Ruling party member Sanjay Dasbarma said, “We appealed to the PAC chairman to postpone the meeting for a date after Rajo festival. All discussions will be held in the meeting as per the agenda.” Sharply reacting to the development, PAC sub-committee chairman Prasad Harichandan held the BJD members responsible for the postponement of the important meeting.
“The PAC members would have visited the office of the Society of Registrar regarding the chit fund issues today at 11 am. But being scared over their alleged involvement in the chit fund scam, the ruling party members have tried to skip it citing the Delhi rally. The chit fund scam could have been exposed today, if the meeting had been held,” Harichandan said.
Notably, the PAC committee had failed to transact its business in its earlier meeting after a verbal duel between the BJD and Congress members pertaining to formation of sub-committee took place. The BJD members had staged a walkout alleging that all decisions were being taken without consultation with the ruling party members.
