The Utkal Sammilani, Mancheswar Industrial Estate Branch held its executive committee meeting here on Sunday.
Presiding over the meeting, branch president Dillip Dashsharma said Odia language was now at stake as no new Odia words were being created while English and other languages were getting many new words. Hence, the State Government should take initiatives for creation of new Odia words, said Dashsharma.
Secretary Gobinda Chandra Subudhi read out the annual report. Among others, vice-presidents Pratap Chandra Swain and Sheetal Chandra Mohanty, Utkal Samachar editor Er Siba Prasad Mishra and council member Ashok Kumar Palatasingh attended. On the advice of senior member Dr Dwarikanath Mohanty, a resolution was passed to thank President Pranab Mukherjee for appreciating Odia people recently. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks.
