Following a sudden surge in Covid-19 cases in Ganjam district, the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) on Thursday cancelled home quarantine option for the returnees from the States of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Kerala to the city.
“All people returning from Gujarat, Maharashtra and Kerala will be kept in institutional quarantine mandatorily. Home quarantine option will not be made available,” a BeMC order stated.
The district has so far reported 21 coronavirus cases while all of them are Surat returnees. As many as 17 out of the 21 cases were registered on the day.
