The Town police here on Friday fined a BJP leader for speaking on the mobile phone while riding a two-wheeler and also not wearing a mask. Sources said that Kendrapada SP Madhkar Sandeep Sampat along with Town police personnel intercepted former BJP district president Duryodhan Sahoo at Balagandi here for riding a scooty without a helmet. Besides, Sahoo was speaking on the mobile phone and also not wearing a mask violating the Covid-19 protocols.
He was slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 and his two–wheeler was seized. Sahoo was detained for some time but later released. “Nobody is above law, whoever would violate the laws relating to Covid protocols and Motor Vehicle Act would be penalised,” said the SP.
