Ganjam district Collector Vijaya Amruta Kulange on Monday appreciated people for participating in the “Covid Week” meant to create awareness on precautions against the virus and urged them to take a pledge not to talk to anybody not wearing a mask.Kulange conducted a review meeting on the progress of Covid Week underway from September 24 with all BDOs, Tehsildras, Child Development Project Officer, Chief Executive Officers, Block Health Officers through videoconferencing.

He expressed happiness saying that people have come forward themselves create awareness on precautions against the virus.  Women and students are participating in large numbers. More than 8,000 schoolchildren participated in the painting competition, he said.

However, Kulange expressed unhappiness that many vegetable vendors are not adhering to 2-metre social distancing norm. He directed officials to take stringent action against such violators. In a related message, Kulange asked Government officers and employees not to leave their office headquarters without taking his permission. In case of urgent works, they can take permission from him through their higher authorities.

“It has come to my knowledge that some officers and employees are commuting between Bhubaneswar/Cuttack and offices in the district daily while Covid situation in other parts of the State is not good.

So, I direct such officers and employees to stay in headquarters and stop commuting so that common people will not get infection coming in contact with them,” said Kulange.
