Three loudmouth Ministers, Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy, Revenue Minister Bijayashree Routray and Cooperation Minister Damodar Rout would not attend the Chasi Samavesh of the BJD to be held at Sohela in Bargarh district on Thursday. The three Ministers have been kept away from Samavesh as their statements on farmers’ problems and suicides have created embarrassing situations for the Government. The party supremo is apprehensive of getting farmers’ wrath in presence of these Ministers, according to political analysers.
Notably, Maharathy has already faced farmers’ wrath at three places during his field visits to assess the drought situation. Though the two other Ministers are in many ways connected to agriculture sector, their recent statements on burning drought and suicide issues have not been satisfactory and have invited flaks from opposition parties.
leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra said a Government head, who functions and believes in democracy, gives due respect to Ministers. “Here striking out of the names of three Ministers related to agriculture shows how the Government is running in the State,” said Mishra. Senior BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra too mocked at the Chief Minister and said it was better to take the Chief Minister’s Office to the Samavesh site instead of MlAs, MPs and Ministers.
