Around 200 aggrieved senior citizens who are yet to get houses constructed by the lIC Home Finance limited (lICHFl) under its lIC Care Homes project near Khandagiri in the city have threatened to sit in dharna near the project site till the handing over the flats to them
The victims, mostly between the age group of 50 and 80, alleged that the lICHFl, a subsidiary of national insurer life Insurance Corporation (lIC), has breached the trust and cheated them.
They have even lodged a complaint at the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch seeking justice to them.
According to reports, the lICHFl had got land from the General Administration Department in 2008 for housing project meant for senior citizens exclusively. The project was started in 2011. The flats were to be delivered by April 2013.
The buyers alleged that they have already paid more than 90 per cent of the three BHK-flat costs.
Three years have elapsed. Neither the lIC officials intimate the buyers about the inordinate delay nor give any deadline of handing over flats to them leaving the senior citizens in a lurch.
The investors alleged that they are now being forced to pay interests on loans without even getting possession of their houses.
“We urge the PSU to speed up the construction work and hand over the flats to us at the earliest. Else, we will be forced to stage a dharna near the project site till we get justice,” threatened buyers.
