In an outlandish order, Koraput district Collector V Jayakumar has asked Government employees under him and the general public of his district to come to the Collectorate wearing plain and sober-looking dress and not jeans. “All employees of the Collectorate, people of the district and all others who would have work at the Collectorate or want to meet the Collector must not come wearing jeans and T-shirts. People wearing plain and sober-looking clothes are only allowed inside the Collectorate,” said the Collector’s ‘fatwa’ fixed in the notice board. Following the notice, people, who are mostly tribals, are seen coming in lungis and dhotis to the Collectorate.
When asked by reporters, the Collector said that the initiative is meant to maintain discipline in the Collectorate.
Now, it is to be seen that how the stricture is being accepted by people of the tribal-dominated district.
