We don’t have any detailed evidence regarding marital discord between ex-Army medical officer Dr Somanath Parida and his wife,” said a top officer of theCommissionerate Police here on Monday replying a question of reporters on Parida’s relation with a woman.

After arrest of the accused on Saturday, rumours were rife over Parida’s relation with a woman. It was suspected that the family dispute might have started due to that relation, but the Bhubaneswar DCP said the actual reason would come out after the detailed investigation.

Meanwhile, Somanath Parida’s son Dr lalit Parida, who is living in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, went to the Nayapalli police station after arriving in the city. The police took him to his IRC Village residence and asked him about his parents. He told the police that his parents were quarrelling over trivial matters and his father didn’t give phone to his mother when he wanted to talk to her on June 3.

lalit said his life is totally shattered after the death of his mother. “My wife is bedridden after hearing the heartrending incident,” he said. The police are waiting for the forensic report, which may give some clue in the case. The police will also interrogate Somanath Parida’s daughter also living in Dubai and the gardener of the house regarding the incident.

“We would take the accused of the high profile case on remand form further investigation. If needed,we may conduct a lie detector test to know the actual reason of the murder case,” said police.
