The Baleswar district administration is planning to implement the no-helmet-no-petrol concept from August 16.
In this regard, a meeting was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of district Collector Pramod Das. Regional Transport Officer Amresh Patra, Additional SP Santosh Nayak, Sub-Collector Ramchandra Palta, fuel outlet owners and intellectuals were present.
The Collector stated that a lot of fatal accidents take place on account of absence of helmets; so, such mishaps could be contained by putting on headgears.
He said that from August 1 to 15 there would be an awareness campaign for the purpose, following which
the helmet-no-petrol rule would be in force from August 16.
Petrol won’t be given to the bikers without helmets and further action would be initiated against the
petrol pump owner if they flout the rule, he added. The RTO has been asked to do
the needful for the necessary publicity before enforcement of the rule.
