Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) Commissioner Chakravarty Singh Rathore on Thursday refuted the Bharatiya Bikas Parishad’s (BBP) allegation that the BeMC engaged goons to evacuate slum dwellers from the Nilakantheswar Temple area in city.
Stating that the claimed land is very private by nature, Rathore informed that around 18,000 applications have already been received for allotment of houses in Brahampur last month. Hence, the claim of the so called slum dwellers and the Bharatiya Bikash Parishad is completely baseless, said Rathore. Notably, many slum dwellers led by BBP had gheraoed the BeMC office on Wednesday alleging that the BeMC authorities engaged goons to drive out them from slums.
