The Baleswar Trawler Owners’ Association on Thursday warned that they would observe January 19 as a no-fishing activity day in protest against the Central Government’s new guidelines regarding fishing. “The Central Government’s decision on November 12 last year allowed the letter of permit (lOP) to foreign vessels for fishing in deep sea. Further it has imposed certain restrictions and hiked the registration fees of local vessels,” rued a member of the association. Protesting against this, trawler associations have decided to observe no fishing on January 19 nationwide, said All-Odisha president of the association Kameswar Narayan Praharaj.
