The people of Odisha are in panic and the State Government is in coma. The gunning down of Health Minister Naba Kisore Das by a police officer in broad daylight is rare not only in the State but the entire country, the BJP said on Tuesday.
BJP State president Samir Mohanty said the killing of an influential Cabinet Minister in police firing and the silence of the Chief Minister, who is holding the Home portfolio for the last 23 years, is disgraceful.
The DGP also did not visit the spot and the Home Secretary has remained silent over the sensitive issue. It seems there is a big conspiracy behind the incident. “We want to ask who is running the Government. Police have failed to provide security to the common people, Mohanty alleged.
"A cop would commit the crime and the Odisha Police would investigate it. The Crime Branch was in past entrusted to probe several sensitive cases, but it has failed to deliver results. Hence, we demand the State Government hand over the investigation to the CBI without delay as there is every possibility that efforts would be made to destroy evidence,” he added.
