Although Ambavona block in Bargarh district is situatednearby the Mahanadi river, yet the people are facing water scarcity. Due to negligence of the district administration and politicians, safedrinking water is still a far cry in the village, alleged locals.
There is no provision of drinking water at the minor irrigation office campus, Bhukta Block colony, bus stand, Market Pada and the Government Hospital of Ambavona Block. So, the people have to suffer a lot in getting drinking water. Numerous allegations have been leveled with the local RWSS Division but in vain. Social worker Chandramani Behera said this is happeningdue to the sheer apathy of the local administration.
Besides, animal market area, main market yard, and vegetable market in Bhukta too have no provision to get drinking water. The RMC has been collecting tax to the tune of lakhs of rupees from the market, but it has failed to provide drinking water facility to the people. The ICDS office, agriculture, Tehsil and RI offices too reel under the acute scarcity of water. Neither the Gram Panchayat (GP) nor the Block office tries to sort out the problem. The locals have threatened to resort to agitation if the administration does not solve the problem.
