No docs attend Covid patient for three days

The State government’s tall claim of putting in place super-infra for treatment of patients infected with the coronavirus in hotspot Ganjam district seems to have proved hollow.

It is so understood from the fact that a native of Pudamari village under Sanakhemundi block, Madhusudan Badtiya (58), was admitted at Tata Covid Hospital three days back. Besides being infected with Covid 19, he is also suffering from chronic diabetics with sugar level over 400.  It is disappointing that neither any doctor nor any other medical staff has visited him yet.

Though a relative has reportedly informed the district Collector about Badtiya’s plight, no action has been taken yet. Now, the patient has threatened to commit suicide unless he gets proper health care services soon.

According to BK Bisarad, a known RTI activist and scribe of Brahmapur, the patient, who happens to be his relative, ins unable to talk now and his condition might deteriorate to a uncontrollable state unless he is provided proper treatment soon.

He said the patient has so far been given some paracetamol and Vitamin-C tablets. Badtiya needs specialised treatment both for his diabetics and corona infection, he observed.

Bisarad demanded that a team of doctors be engaged specially for his care. The authorities would be held responsible if any eventuality happens, he cautioned.
