The famous 11-day-long annual Dhanu Yatra at Bargarh would not be held this year due to the Covid-19 situation, informed district Collector on Sunday.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting between the Collector and members of the Dhanu Yatra Committee held at the DRDA office.
Notably, the Bargarh Dhanu Yatra is considered as the largest open-air theatre in the world. The festival depicts the mythological episode involving the killing of King Kansa in the hands of his nephew Lord Krishna. Earlier, the Bali Yatra in Cuttack, Paradip and Bhubaneswar had been cancelled this year due to the pandemic.
