The State Government on Monday said an ‘Oversight Committee’ would be constituted soon for successful implementation of the ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’ against corruption in social and welfare schemes.
The committee headed by the Chief Secretary would oversee the ongoing pre-emptive drives being launched against corruption, basically collection of percentage (PC).
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed to form the committee while presiding over a meeting on checking courruption.
“Corruption is the biggest enemy of development. Hence, corruption any form can’t be tolerated,” Patniak told officers and directed them to ensure that poor people should not be deprived of rights for corruption.
Patnaik directed officials to focus on proper implementation of rural housing schemes, Niramaya Yojana, Janani Suraksha Yojana, and ICDS programmes.
The Chief Minister too directed to form block and district committees to ensure transparency in developmental and welfare schemes.
The committees would hold meetings at regular intervals and submit reports to the Vigilance department, which would scrutinise the reports and inform the departments concerned about the irregularities.
The Vigilance department has so far filed 38 cases after 197 spot inquiries conducted against 560 complaints received regarding irregularities in rural housing schemes.
