No CMAS fear: 15 families back in Narayanpatna

Published on:

Around 50 persons of 15 families, who had left Narayanpatna fearing activism of members of the Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha (CMAS), returned to their native area in Koraput district on Thursday after six long years.

Though the families were happy to come back to their villages, they broke down into tears by seeing their collapsed houses. Sources said that around 500 families had left their villages under Narayanpatna block when the CMAS members attacked them by branding them as non-tribals in a land dispute.

According to Jagdish Kuldip, they had left their homes after CMAS members attacked them. “We were staying in Koraput and other areas to avoid any conflict with the members,” he added. Narayanpatna Tehsildar Rajendra Kumar Achariya said that 15 families reached their respective villages under the Narayanpatna block on Thursday. As their houses have been collapsed, the block authorities have written to the District Collector to help the people. Sources said the families have taken shelter at the panchayat offices in their areas.
