DGP RP Sharma on Wednesday clarified that the Chief Minister has not directed him to probe into chit fund accused Subhankar Nayak’s presence in the BCCI Box of Barabati Stadium during the India-Sri lanka T20 match on December 20.
Sharma said to mediapersons, “The Chief Minister has not given any directive to undertake a probe into the incident.”
Echoing similar views, Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh said the DGP has not given any written instruction to him. “If we get an instruction, we will look into different angles of the matter,” Singh added.
The DGP’s clarification came following reports in media that the Chief Minister had directed him to probe the matter.
On December 20, Subhankar was seen among VIPs in the BCCI Box of Barabati Stadium during the T20 match. This created headlines and the opposition parties and even the Cuttack Barabati BJD MlA Debasish Samantray demanded a probe into the incident.
