Social activist and Supreme Court lawyer Radhakanta Tripathy on Monday brought to the notice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Minister for Oil and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan the 100 per cent pass rate of a high school in Satabhaya area where there is no class room and teacher.

He in a letter highlighted the ordeal of the students of sea erosion prone Panchubarahi Upgraded Government High School, who came with flying colours despite all odds in recently published HSC examination results.

Tripathy in his letter to Modi and Pradhan brought to their notice that all the students passed the HSC Examinations even if there is no room to sit and no teacher has been appointed to teach. The school is situated in the small coastal village of Satbhaya which achieved 100 per cent pass rate in 2016. Here students studied on their own efforts.

Of all 36 students, including 23 girls and 13 boys, 22 girls secured more than 60 per cent marks while seven students secured second class and only four per cent students secured below 50 per cent marks. Remarkably, the first 14 highest scoring students from the school are all girls. The girls of the school have set a unique example in the country, Tripathy in his letter said.

He also brought to the notice that in August 2012, the State Government had directed the District Education Department to upgrade the Panchubarahi Nodal UP School to Panchubarahi Upgraded Government High School under Rasthriya Sikhya Mission to provide an opportunity to students in the village to pursue high school studies. later, it was given the status of Panchubarahi Upgraded Government High School with students getting promoted to class IX and X. However, there was no infrastructure and no teachers assigned for the upper classes.

Tripathy requested both the Prime Minister and the Oil Minister to encourage Odia talents at national level by felicitating and encouraging the students.
