There is presently no caretaker in the old age shelter home maintained by the Joda Municipality in Keonjhar district.
The issue was highlighted recently when local people found a forsaken child crying inconsolably in the shelter home.
Sources said that an unmarried woman left the shelter home without any assistance of maid after giving birth to the child. People searched for the woman and found her when she was moving to another place.
They gave her in custody of Executive officer of Joda Municipality Samaresh Mohanty, sources said.
Now, both mother and the baby are being treated at the Tisco hospital at Joda.
