In view of the COVID-19 outbreak in Bhubaneswar, celebration of the72nd Capital Foundation Day on Monday (April 13) has been cancelled to avoid mass congregation, informed the Capital Day Celebration Committee on Sunday. The foundation-stone to make the temple city Bhubaneswar as the State capital had been laid by the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on April 13, 1948. The Capital Day Celebration Committee had been celebrating the memorable day in a grand way since past 30 years in collaboration with the State Government and the Khordha district administration.
However, due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases and enforcement of lockdown, the committee decided to cancel all programmes relating to the day this year.
