With an aim to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the Jagatsinghpur district administration has ordered that the Baliyatra in different parts of the district would not be organised this year.
As large gatherings are expected during the Baliyatra on the Kartik Purnima, district Collector Saroj Kumar Mishra ordered that Kalinga Baliyatra at Paradip, Chelitola Baliyatra at Gopiakud and such festival in Tirtol would remain prohibited. Also, the festival would not be held in other parts of the district.
The order added any violation of the Collector’s directive would attract penal provision under the Disaster Management Act 2005 and other relevant laws.
