No addl incentives for KBK Medical Officers

Medical Officers (MOs) appointed in KBK districts are not getting additional incentives now as the Government Resolution issued in February 2006 has already expired, informed Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak in the State Assembly on Friday.

Responding to a question asked by BJP member KV Singh Deo, the Minister said the GR No 3388/H issued on February 4, 2006 for grant of additional finance incentive in KBK and KBK+ area for Medical Officers was allowed for a limited period of two years only from Jan 1, 2006 to December 31, 2007 on experimental basis subject to review after the December 31, 2007. Hence, that resolution is not force, the Minister informed.

However, the Minister didn’t reply to Singh Deo’s question as to why their services are not renewed in time and salaries are not paid regularly.

In another question asked by Congress MlA Taraparasd Bahinipati, Nayak said the recent removal of 408 absentee doctors has not affected health services in the State. “The absentee doctors were removed as per law and as they remained absent for long days, there is no question of the health services being disrupted. The State Government is taking steps to recruit new doctors in their place,” said Nayak.

Replying to another question asked by BJD MlA Priyadarshi Mishra, the Health Minister stated that the Government has no proposal to set up hospital/dispensary or pathological clinic in the court premises in Bhubaneswar.
