No A-1 grade in S'pur old Govt schools

The performance of renowned and old schools of Sambalpur headquarters town in the recently published results of the HSC exams is not much encouraging. Not a single student of these schools has been able to secure A-1 grade. The matter is totally different in the non-aided schools and Saraswati Vidya Mandirs, in particular. The teachers there with scant salary and other hardships rather are more meticulous which is proved by the results of their schools. Unlike that of the Government schools, these private schools are now the matter of discussion in the town.

The four reputed schools with name and fame in the town are- CSB Zilla School, lady lewis Girls’ High school, NG Town High School and Budharaja High School. But not a single student of these schools scored A-1 grade this year. Interestingly, the CSB Zilla School completed 150 years last year and produced many a genius having national and international fame. “But the school’s result in the HSC exam for the current year disheartens us,” lamented Damodar Kar, a local guardian. Most of the people here and the educationists have similar comments on the other three schools also.

Notably, 30 students of different schools of the district have secured A-1 grade this year out of the total 1,473 of the State. But the share of the reputed and old Government schools for this most coveted grade is nil. “Teachers and school authorities need to introspect on the matter,” suggested Kar.
