The Nabanirman Krushak Sangathan [NKS] activists on Wednesday staged demonstration and protest meeting in front of the Balikuda Tehsil office protesting corruption.
Hundreds of farmers and NKS sympathisers from Balikuda and coastal areas converged at Balikuda bus stand and took out a rally from there shouting slogan against the State Government’s anti-farmer policy. later, the demonstration culminated at the tehsil office with a public meeting.
The NKS leaders alleged that the tehsil authorities were exploiting farmers while doing revenue works. The employees were demanding bribe for any official work, contrary to the Government claim of zero tolerance for corruption, slammed NKS State coordinator Askhya Kumar.
The administration officials accompanied with police force reached at the spot and held discussion with the NKS leaders.
Sub collector SC Nathasharma assured them that a probe would be instituted against the Tehsil staffs and lawful action would be taken if anybody was found guilty. The activists submitted a memo to the Collector through the Balikuda Tehsildar.
