The Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) members led by its State committee member Suvendu Mallick on Friday burnt an effigy of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath here alleging harassment of 500 Odia farmers by the UP police while they were on way to New Delhi to attend the farmers’ agitation.
The Odisha farmers while on their way to New Delhi were welcomed in other States but not allowed to enter Lucknow and were detained on January 20 by the UP police, said Mallick. When NKS convenor and other farmers staged a demonstration, they were forcibly taken to Kanpur, due to which they could not have food, alleged Mallick. The demonstrators here demanded immediate repeal of the Centre’s farm laws.
