N'kanan herbivore safari wall caves in

Published on:

A day after the wall of a tiger enclosure at the Nandankanan zoo collapsed due to heavy rains, some portion of a wall of the Herbivore safari on Sunday collapsed, raising concerns about the safety of the zoo inmates.

Sources said the Safari now houses more than 100 deer, barking deer, and wild boars. Meanwhile, the zoo authorities managed to gherao the safari with iron wire in order to prevent the inside animals from straying.

Sources said the wall collapsed due to prolonged water logging near the wall. Notably, the wall of tiger enclosure 32-A at the zoo had collapsed on Saturday due to heavy rains. Four tigers were staying in the enclosure.
