For the first time since Independence, villagers of the remote Niyamgiri in Rayagada district will now ride bus. The Dongaria tribals wll avail bus service to their remote Parsali village.
The bus service connects Parsali, inhabited by particularly venerable tribal group (PVTG) Dongaria Kondhs, to Rayagada via Kalyansinghpur block.
The difficult hilly and forest terrain made it difficult to provide connectivity to the 12-km stretch. Two buses will ply on the route, according to officials. This service will help around 3,000 residents of Parsali panchayat.
This is an effort by the district administration to strengthen infrastructure and connectivity among the tribals, thereby improving their economic conditions, according to district Collector Jagannath Mohanty.
Meanwhile, Sana Denganali village has been electrified after power supply was provided to Parsali Panchayat last year.
