The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has granted permission for a Medical College and Hospital at the NIT, Rourkela (NITR).
The NITR had submitted a proposal in this regard in February this year under Section-10A of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 with an objective to provide advanced medical facilities to the people of this region and Eastern India at large. The NITR has been advised to submit a detailed proposal along with the time schedule on the project to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as per the Indian Medical Council Act & Registration.
As per NITR sources, the medical college would be established within the time schedule with the support from the Union Ministries of Health & Family Welfare and HRD and other stakeholders. With this, a longstanding demand of the State is going to be fulfilled
